ARDROSSAN Medical Centre has won a prestigious architectural award.
The restored County Constabulary building has been awarded the Historic Scotland Conservation and Climate Change Award at the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Awards against a strong field.
The judges particularly commented on the re-use of the existing derelict building and the contribution which the project makes to the town centre.
This awards follows hard on the heels of the Centre gaining a commendation in the Scottish Design Awards.
The Irvine Bay Regeneration Company funded project delivered the project to transform a derelict site containing the listed former police station into a state-of-the-art 10,000 sq ft health centre, and the work was procured through development partner hub South West Scotland construction, with Morrison Construction brought on board as contractors on the £2.5million refurbishment.
Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay, said: “This is yet another accolade for a project which has gathered several for the quality of its work.
“We are delighted, but we are even more pleased that the centre now provides a medical centre of the highest quality for the people of Ardrossan and visitors.
"It’s a facility that was much-needed.”
