AROUND £600 worth of power tools were stolen from two builders’ vans in Kilwinning.

The theft occurred at around 2.30pm on Monday, May 23 while tradesmen were carrying out work at a property in Lainshaw.

The items taken included a Makita cordless rip saw, Milwaukee cordless drill, Dewalt cordless impact drill and a large Halfords socket set.

One of the workmen who had items stolen said that the vans had been locked all day and were only unlocked while the tradesmen were tidying up.

He added: “We spotted two men in a silver Combo/Berlingo style van, reversing from next to one of the vans and driving away from the street.

“The two men had been walking around the area dressed as workmen.”

The workman described one of the men as short and stocky with short black hair, smartly dressed and carrying a note book.

The other man is described as about 6ft tall with short, light brown hair, dressed in navy or black work clothes with a t-shirt that looked like it had a company name or logo sewn on. Police said enquiries were ongoing.
