LOCAL restaurant chain Cecchini’s were big winners at the 4th annual Scottish Italian Awards - picking up two gongs.

Held on November 13, the award ceremony is one of the highlights of the Italian calendar with awards being handed out to the cream of the crop in the restaurant and food sector.

The Scottish Italian Awards prides itself in inviting members of the general public to vote for some of their favourite Italian eateries.

Cecchini’s, who have restaurants in Ardrossan, Prestwick and Ayr, picked up the award for Best Marketing Team and owner Anthony Cecchini picked up the prestigious Business Person of the Year title.

The group were on the shortlist for two other awards and weren’t the only winners from the local area, with the popular Vanilla Joe’s winning Best Gelateria for the second year in a row and Deli Il Cardo finishing as runner-up in the Best Deli/Cafe category.

Anthony Cecchini told the Herald: “We could not have done this without the family, the Cecchini’s Team and all the loyal customers we have. I thank you all.”
