THE first Saltcoats swap shop was held last week with huge amounts of clothes being donated for those in need.
Organised by Anna and Marcus Hazel-McGown, the swap shop is designed to help those in need who can’t afford new clothing and it gives them a chance to swap with others.
Marcus said: “On the Monday prior to the event, all of their volunteers worked from 9am until well after 10pm, getting everything moved to the Argyle Centre, and getting things set out.
“Similarly by 9am the next morning volunteers where already setting out the tables and more collections where underway. As 11am arrived our local MP Patricia Gibson officially opened the event.
“Although numbers of people through the door where not as high as we’d hoped all response was very positive.
“By the time the event closed and everything had been put into storage for the next event in February we already had well over a hundred new notifications of new donations needing collecting and thanks for the event. So keep an ear out for our next event in February, the one thing we can give away is that the next event will be open longer, and will be on a Thursday”
