THE ARDROSSAN Castle Carnival returns for the second year this week and it promises to be a fantastic day.

Taking place on Saturday, June 17, the carnival has something for everyone.

It will be broadly similar to the previous Carnival with a wide range of attractions.

One major difference, however, is that the event starts with a spectacular Community Parade with a Celtic and Gaelic flair. It has been produced by artistic designer Ariel Killick of Independent State of Happiness whose amazing work can be seen online.

Various Ardrossan Community groups have been designing costumes and learning new skills such as stilt walking. The Parade from the Civic Centre to the Hill features Hakas, Poi Dancers and our very own giant, William Wallace and starts at 11.30 am.

The Carnival runs from 12 noon till 4.30 pm. Visitors can see horse jousting, medieval warriors, medieval ladies, musket firing, archery, birds of prey, puppets, pipe band, storytelling, balloon modelling, fire juggling, train your dragon and many other family-oriented activities. The Castle gate will be opened to let people walk through its grounds. Last year, thousands of people enjoyed a very happy afternoon so please come along and share in the repeat.

This is a fabulous free event for all the family so why not pack a picnic and come along end enjoy the fun! You could even dress up medieval style for the occasion!
