SIX darting legends are set to showcase their skills in the name of charity when they descend upon the Ardrossan Civic Centre to raise money for Poppyscotland.

Stars of the oche Darryl Fitton, Tony O’Shea, Gary Robson and former world champion Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham will be joined by female legends Trina Gulliver MBE and world number one Deta Hedman to wow the crowd and do their bit for the leading Armed Forces charity.

The exhibition event, which takes place on Saturday, 28th October and is sponsored by legendary darts equipment manufacturer Winmau, raised more than £2,500 for Poppyscotland in 2016.

However, this year there are also events in Kennoway (27th October) and Bathgate (29th October), meaning the charity is hoping to raise close to £10,000 to help fund its life-changing support to the Armed Forces community Scotland.

There are three types of ticket for the event. VIP tickets cost £35 and allow entry at 6pm, while a parent/child VIP ticket costs £40. For standard tickets, it’s £25 with entry at 7pm.

Poppyscotland’s Head of Fundraising, Gordon Michie, said: “Last year’s event in Bathgate was brilliant and raised vital funds for the charity. So, to have not one, not two, but three events in 2017 highlights how much people love their darts and how they are prepared to go the extra mile to support Poppyscotland. I would like to thank everyone who is attending the exhibitions along with the six top names that will be there, too.”

Event organiser Wullie Burns said: “To have six illustrious players under the same roof will make for a very special evening indeed. Joining our 2016 star attractions in Darryl, Tony, Gary and Andy are Trina and Deta, so there is much to be excited about.

“Trina is a ten-time world champion who was awarded an MBE on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2013 for ‘services to darts and fundraising’, while Deta is the number one ranked World Darts Federation player. With such an incredible line-up, we really are in for a night to remember.”
