POWER cuts across the Three Towns last night were caused by a cable fault.
Around 8pm, power was momentarily cut to the local area with a number of people being affected for more than an hour.
The fault was reported to Scottish Power and recognised to be a cable issue in the Ardrossan Road area of Saltcoats.
Power was cut briefly at least four times in the Three Towns, Dalry and West Kilbride and it came back online shortly after 9pm.
Flickering was reported as far afield as Beith and Irvine with street lights and mobile phone signals also being affected.
Scottish Power said: "Shortly before 8pm we responded to a report of a cable fault in Ardrossan Road, Saltcoats.
"All customers had power back on shortly after 9pm.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
