WEST Kilbride Bowling Club moved ever closer to a third North Ayrshire Bowling League title with a convincing win over Largs BC on their own patch on Friday night.
Now just one team in Kilwinning BC can stop West K lifting the league trophy - and the teams will meet this coming Friday.
Kilwinning kept their slim hopes alive with a strong win over Ardeer BC at home but need a bonus point win to go ahead of their rivals.
West Kilbride ran out 114-57 winners over Largs, the only team on Friday night to get over 100 shots.
Big wins also went the way of the Garnock Valley sides with Kilbirnie moving up to third in the table by virtue of a 92-75 win over Saltcoats and Dalry/Glengarnock getting back in to the top four after a bonus point win over Largs Halkshill by 86 shots to 53.
Ardrossan’s hopes of a top four place took a dent away to Fairlie on Friday after they lost by 74 shots to 72 but the losing bonus point keeps them two points behind both Kilbirnie and Dalry/Glengarnock and Ardrossan still have to play both teams in the coming weeks.
In the final game of the week, Ardeer Rec jumped from bottom of the table up to 10th with a bonus point win over Skelmorlie to put them bottom of the pile. The final score at the Rec was 86-40 to the home side.
With just two weeks of games left, the battle for the top four places, which will secure a place in the end of season challenge cup, is heating up with four teams battling it out for two spots.
There are some very juicy ties this week with first against second as West Kilbride meeting Kilwinning, third v sixth as Kilbirnie travel to Ardrossan and fourth v fifth as Saltcoats host Dalry and Glengarnock.
