A MAN was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a train near to West Kilbride Railway Station.

Last Thursday night, a man in his twenties was struck by a train near to the village station.

Rail services were affected and a large emergency service response descended on the town following the reports.

The male, who suffered serious injuries, is believed to be from West Kilbride and his condition is not life threatening.

A spokersperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to West Kilbride station shortly after 8.45pm on September 6 following reports that a person had been struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP and Police Scotland attended the location alongside paramedics and a man in his twenties, from West Kilbride, was taken to hospital with serious but not life- threatening injuries. The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
