A man has been tagged for 4 months after threatening and abusive behaviour towards emergency services staff.

Thomas Blaikie of Russell Drive, Ayr, pled guilty to his actions that took place on October 1.

The 36-year-old was found to have multiple self-harm scars on arrival to his mother’s address where he requested alcohol, although already heavily under the influence.

The procurator fiscal told the court that Police were called to the scene by the accused mother after she was concerned for his wellbeing. The police began to examine Blaikie’s arms when he became aggressive towards the officers shouting ‘F*****ng Rats’ and ‘Black b******s’, who subsequently requested back up.

Blaikie was then seen to calm down before explaining the cuts had been a result of a fall and accepted the request for an ambulance.

After a paramedic carrying out an examination, the man was told he required stitches to where he then tried to headbutt one of the ambulance staff stating: ‘I may as well get lifted for something proper’.

After continuing his behaviour police arrested Blaikie who responded ‘Is that so? I’m going to f*****g doo you in’.

The court heard on arrival to hospital that the thug continued his aggression telling a doctor to ‘f**k off’ that he had fallen followed by another reference to the police as ‘F*****g rats’.

Mr Gallagher, representing Blaikie explained that the police had been contacted as a matter of precaution and that the accused did not want to be taken to hospital. He further added that it had come about as an alcohol induced incident and that he has since taken steps to shy away from using alcohol.

Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart explained to Blaikie that: “You should be aware that conduct towards police and hospital staff trying to help you is unacceptable and could be given a custodial sentence. I have decided to take a step back from that due to the report that has been given.”

Blaikie was given a community pay back order where he will be under supervision for eighteen months. He has also been given a restriction of liberty order for four months where he is restricted from leaving his home during the hours of 7pm and 7am.
