THE annual White Ribbon 16 Days of Action campaign got under way on Sunday, November 25.
The White Ribbon campaign is a worldwide movement to end violence against women which directly addresses men – so they become part of the solution.
People are encouraged to wear white ribbons and in doing so pledge ‘to never commit, condone or remain silent about men’s violence against women’.
The events will culminate in the annual ‘Reclaim the Night’ walk on Thursday, December 6, at 5pm. This will be starting off from the Trinity Church steps at Bridgegate, with the finale taking place at the Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine.
Members of the public are invited to join in the walk, which aims to promote a safe environment for women.
