POLICE are hunting an attacker following an attempted murder in Kilwinning yesterday.

Detectives are appealing for information after a 41-year-old man was seriously injured after an incident in the Dirrans in the early hours of Sunday, December 16.

Around 2.20am on Sunday morning, police were called to a report of a man injured after being seriously assaulted within a house in Bartonholm Terrace, Kilwinning.

Police and ambulance attended and the injured man was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital and then later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is being for a head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Detective Constable Jennifer Carruth at Saltcoats Police Office said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident, which we are treating as attempted murder.

“I would ask anyone with any information that may be able to assist our investigation to contact Saltcoats Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0614 of 16th December 2018.”
