LOCALS gathered in their droves at the North Ayrshire Foodbank base in Ardrossan last week as they made up the annual Christmas hampers.

Scores of people volunteered their time to pack the hampers which were delivered to those in need in time for the big day.

The foodbank wish to pass on thanks to Kilwinning Academy, St Palladius Primary, Dalry, St Bridget’s Primary, Kilbirnie, Community Windpower, Members of the public, Police Scotland, Saltcoats, SNP councillors and members, Labour councillors and members, PRA group volunteer day, HSBC staff volunteer day, Kilwinning community council and MSYP.

Craig Crosthwaite, co-ordinator of North Ayrshire Foodbank, told the Times: “Thank you to all involved in the production, packing and funding of the hampers, they are sure to bring some festive cheer to those receiving them.”

"I would like to add the role of Community Windpower Limited who have funded the Christmas Hampers for 5 years and this year increased their donation substantially to £16,000 enabling 200 hampers to be issued having risen from 140 from previous years."
