EMBATTLED Kilbirnie Ladeside are urging the people of the town to dip into their pockets and help the club.

The Garnock Valley Premiership outfit last week set up a Crowdfunding site to raise money to help add new players in a fight to preserve their rop flight status.

Messages of support for our new manager Liam McGuiness ran into hundreds shortly after the announcement.

And at the time of writing they were almost halfway to their target of £2000, securing some £918.

The post on the Crowdfunding site said: " We now call on you to support Liam with funding to bolster the squad for the relegation battle ahead. Funds raised will be used directly in the transfer market. Our hardy loyal supporters fund the weekly running of the club, this is a chance for friends, family, co-workers and exiled supporters to help get behind the club in the quest to maintain its top flight status.

Secretary Gordon Ronney said: "All the loyal supporters have chipped in to help the club and now we would appeal to people in the town who are interested in the club and don't always go to games to try and help the club with a donation. It does not matter what they give as every little helps. Just before Christmas, we brought in Keiran Wood from Cumnock and we now hope to add some more new faces. Any donations will help add to the squad. It's a important time and vital that we stay in the Premiership."
