NORTH Ayrshire Athletics Club’s 10k will once again link up with the Ayrshire Hospice as their official charity partner.

And in a first for the race, there will be a limited number of FREE spaces for those running in aid of the charity.

Last year, the race and the charity teamed up and runners were easy to spot wearing the familiar purple branding of the hospice on their way round the route of the Three Towns, which incorporates the prom in Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston, hence the nickname for the race as ‘Race the Prom’.

Blair Pettigrew, race director for the 10k, which will take place at the end of August, said: “We are delighted to build on the solid relationship we built with this great local charity who provide vital palliative care for those in the final chapter of their lives whilst providing excellent support to their families.

“Thanks to the generous support from North Ayrshire Athletics Club we are delighted to offer a limited number of FREE spaces for those who are willing to join the #purplearmy and raise some funds for the hospice.”

The club are asking that those taking a free place aim to raise at least £50.
