A man injured a woman after hitting her with a pole and throwing a case at her head.

Robin Purkiss assaulted the woman at his home in Kilbirnie’s Fudstone Drive on March 26 of last year.

Purkiss pushed her onto a bed and seized hold of her neck and head. He repeatedly struck her on the body with a curtain pole, threw a case at her head and prevented her from leavingy.

Purkiss also behaved aggressively towards the woman, shouting abuse at her and struggling with her.

At the time of the offences, Purkiss was on bail.

The 24-year-old was found guilty after trial at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court. He was bailed until March.
