THE Junior Chefs who attend Ardrossan’s cooking classes are hosting a pancake fundraiser to keep the classes free and accessible to all.

The Junior Chefs and their supporting volunteer chefs – Jason, Kaine and Charlie – are holding a “World Pancake Day” to raise funds to keep the classes cooking up a storm on Tuesday, March 5 at the Church of the Nazerene.

The twice weekly group of young people (Tuesdays is main courses and Thursdays is baking – both 4pm to 6pm) are keen to keep going and learning the skills to sustain themselves and their families through the making of good food.

On Pancake Tuesday the group, supported by Tesco Saltcoats, will start making pancakes from Six Nations at 11am until close at 6pm.

The three volunteer chefs will kick start the day at 11am with pancakes available to eat as a sit-in or prepared as a take-away for customers to take back to their place of work or home.

The Junior Chefs will join the volunteer chefs from 3pm.

Craig Crosthwaite, organiser for the North Ayrshire Foodbank, said: “Follow us on the Foodbank Facebook page where we will be announcing the Six Nations pancakes which will be available. If you would like a takeaway we can have those ready.

“You can place an order through our website “contact us”page (https://northayrshire.foodbank.org.uk/contact-us/) or text 07411113126. ”
