A Kilwinning family have made a generous donation to two NHS wards.
The Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) and Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre have received donations for £400 each from the family of the late Bobby Ross from Kilwinning, who was admitted after suffering a stroke.
Elsie Ross, Bobby’s wife, said: “Bobby had many complications, but he fought hard. Throughout his six-week stay, he was extremely well cared for by all of the amazing staff in the ASU (Ward 3E). He was then moved to the Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre in Irvine, where he spent his final few weeks – yet again, the care was wonderful.
“All staff went above and beyond their job description, which made the traumatic time a little easier for the family.”
At Bobby’s funeral in Dreghorn Crematorium, the family asked for donations from family and friends, and split the proceeds between the wards.
Christine Somerville, Charge Nurse at the ASU said: “We are very touched by this donation and the kind words from Bobby’s family. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Bobby’s family and friends who contributed to the donation which will make a difference to patients in the unit.”
