LOCAL MP Patricia Gibson has renewed calls on the UK Government to clamp down on ticket touts.
New legislation made it an offence for ticket touts to use computer ‘bots’ to bulk buy tickets from official sellers faster than members of the public.
However, it has not imposed a cap on the tickets resale prices, leaving many customers still paying well over the odds.
Mrs Gibson said: “People don’t always know they are on a secondary ticketing site, and may be duped into paying far above the original ticket price. Not only are people paying considerably more, believing they are paying a ticket’s face value, it is often not until they check-out that they find huge additional fees have also been added.
“People are still being routinely overcharged for concert tickets in particular.”
