A young gymnast received a welcome birthday present when she found out she had landed a place at the Glasgow School of Sport.
Emily Shearer found out on her 11th birthday on February 20 that she has been accepted into the only designated National Centre of Excellence for Sport in Scotland.
The Beith Primary pupil trains 26 hours a week at City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club.
Proud mum Michelle said: “Emily attends Beith Primary School who fully support her gymnastics training and allow her to come out of school twice a week to train.
“We’re excited for her. There was only 20 in the whole of Scotland [chosen] so that was really good.
“Emily has already represented Scotland two years in a row at Nationals and is very much looking forward to attending the School of Sport in August to progress with her training and high schooling.
“We are all very proud of Emily. She trains very hard and gives up a lot of socialising to follow her dream.”
