THE sister of tragic Ardrossan man Tony Lowey has spoken a year on from his death and how the family plans to continue to help others.

Joanne is organising a fundraising concert in memory of her brother and spoke proudly of what she has achieved in the year since he was found after going missing from his home in the town.

The concert will take place in Saltcoats Labour Club on Mother’s Day, March 31 and feature the music of Elvis Presley as performed by Shaun Hamilton.

This event follows on from the successful run of ‘Missing’ concerts held in the Labour Club last year which raised money for missing people, Tony’s memorial fund as well as other local good causes.

Jo spoke about marking one year since Tony was found and explained how although it was heartbreaking, her family had found closure, she said: “I laid a wreath at the spot where Tony was found. It was heartbreaking and it was too much for my mum and my dad passed away in June so it was really sad.

“I am, personally, at peace as we got the closure that so many other families don’t get.”

Joanne is in the process of getting a memorial bench at the spot where Tony was found and poetically the numbers on the planning permission resonate with her.

She added: “When I phoned about the planning they told me the number is 31/03 and the concert is taking place on Mother’s Day which is the 31st of March and Tony was found on the 13th which is the number reversed.”

The family are looking for raffle prizes for the event and tickets are on sale for just £5 and there will be a special CD available to purchase on the day which has been written for the families of missing people. The song is called Broken Memory and was written by Terry McMail and Shaun Hamilton. CDs will be priced at £3.50.

If you want to attend the fundraising evening, it will start at 6pm and run until 9pm on Sunday, March 31.

Tickets are available from Saltcoats Labour Club.
