POLICE in North Ayrshire are appealing for information after bins were set in fire in Ardrossan.

Around 5am on Monday, April 1, a fire was extinguished at the bin store of a property in Seton Street, Ardrossan.

It is believed that a number of bins have deliberately been set on fire which has caused further damage to an adjacent fence.

PC Edwards, of the Three Towns Locality Policing Team, said: “Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident but deliberate fires do put lives at risk and have a negative wider impact on the community.

“We are appealing for anyone with information on this incident or indeed anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area prior to the arrival of the Fire Service to make contact with us.

“We are conducting enquiries in the area with house to house enquiries and the review of potential CCTV opportunities.

“While it was early in the morning there would have been people returning home or leaving for work.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area, including drivers who may have been in the area and who may have dashcam footage, to please contact us.”

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact Police Scotland by calling the national non-emergency number 101 and quoting incident number 0924 of 1st April 2019.

Information can also be passed via the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
