A well-known Dalry resident celebrated her 100th birthday – with a party attended by more than 100 guests.
Mary McInnes was surrounded by friends and family at a special function at Regal Court. The party for the greatgreat-grandmother was attended by Provost Ian Clarkson and Depute Provost Robert Barr.
Mary’s daughter, Margaret Henderson, said: “It was exceptional, it was a very big crowd. She knows everybody in Dalry and everybody in Dalry knows her.
“Her relations came over from Canada and her granddaughter and great-granddaughter came up from England. We didn’t expect as many as appeared. When we went out in Dalry the other day, she invited everyone she met – we lost track. We just catered for 150 and hoped for the best.
“She’s amazing. She loves bingo, she goes to the leisure club – anywhere where there’s meetings, she’ll be there.”
Depute Provost Barr added: “It was a very pleasant evening, and everyone enjoyed themselves.”
