Members of a Garnock Valley drama group have been busy rehearsing for their latest exciting play which centres around four unlikely visitors to Royal Ascot.

From author Amanda Whittington, and by arrangement with Nick Hern Books, Beith Amateur Dramatics invites you to Ladies’ Day.

Returning after last year's Farndale hit, Drew Young, Janice Bates, Jennifer Harkins, Lorna Manson, Pamela Boyce and director Mark Thomson bring this exuberant comedy about four women from the Hull fish docks on a day trip to the races.

Work, love and life are just one long, hard, slog for the Hull-based, fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda.

But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot, and this year it has relocated to York.

Out go the hairnets, overalls and wellies as the four ditch work, do themselves up to the nines and head off to the races for a drink, a flirt and a flutter. If their luck holds, they could hit the jackpot and who knows what else?

The play shows on Thursday, May 9, Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 7.30pm in Beith Parish Church Hall.

Tickets are £7.50 including refreshments and are available from here, from Beith Thrift Shop, by texting 07956 630329 or contacting Beith Amateur Dramatics on Facebook.

Please note that the information published in last week's Herald regarding the group's play has been updated.
