A video of a man cycling down a Three Towns street with a fox in his backpack has gone viral on Twitter.

Toni Docherty from Saltcoats Tweeted a video her boyfriend had sent her showing a man cycling along what looks like Barrie Terrace in Ardrossan.

But on closer inspection, a fox can be seen peeping out of the cyclist's rucksack. 

The video went viral and has so far clocked up more than 45,000 views.

Sharing the video, Toni said: “Phoned Gary today on my break and he told me he seen a guy cycling his bike with a fox in his bag while he was at work in Saltcoats and a was like aye ok.”

Members of the community replied to Toni’s Tweet, giving clues to the mysterious man.

One user said: “Yep seen him walking it on a lead around Saltcoats.”

Another commented: “Doesn’t actually surprise me, must be the guy who stays round from me. He has a fox pet and entered into the Herald’s pet idol competition.”
