FIREFIGHTERS tackled a wildfire near Portencross Castle at the weekend.
The service was alerted to reports of a wildfire at 6.20pm on Saturday, April 20.
A spokesman from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the scene, near Portencross Castle, where firefighters were met by a large area of gorse on fire.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene after ensuring the area had been made safe.
"There were no casualties."
