Local Veterans delivered over 300 chocolate eggs to the elderly in the Three Towns over the Easter Weekend.
Members of the Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston branch of the Royal British Legion dropped off the treats at five local care homes. The few remaining eggs were delivered to some very excited kids at Hayocks Community Centre.
Branch secretary, Boab McDougal, said: “Charity is a big part of our branch. We really wanted to do something to support our elderly community by spending some quality time with them and just putting a smile on their faces.”
Branch member and publicity officer, Suzanne Fernando, added: “Easter can sometimes get forgotten, especially in care homes, so we wanted to deliver chocolate eggs to these wonderful people so that they can enjoy this time of year too. Both the staff and residents thoroughly enjoyed our visit over the Easter Weekend.”
The legion wished to thank Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Lidl for their support.
