DUBBS Road has finally been closed off to vehicles - two years after it was first announced.

The minor road will no longer connect the Three Towns to the rest of the county, only allowing walkers and cycylists through following proposals which did not receive any objections.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson explained the reasons for the closure back in May 2017 and said: “We engaged with residents living on Dubbs Road to come up with a sustainable, long-term and safe solution for this stretch of road.

“Following these discussions we agreed on proposals to restrict access for vehicles. Cyclists and pedestrians will still have full access to the road.

“The Statutory notification and objection period for these proposals ended on 17 March with no objections being received."
