North Ayrshire Council approved a £500,000 investment in Dalry from the Town Centre Regeneration Fund at their meeting yesterday (Tuesday, May 14).

The investment is in addition to the £500,000 that will be invested in Stevenston.

The remaining £418,000 in the fund will be available to support smaller projects and community led-initiatives in other areas across North Ayrshire.

The £1.4million fund requires to be fully committed by the end of the financial year in March meaning there is limited scope for wholescale community engagement on projects.

However, the Labour cabinet have stipulated that council officers should seek views on potential investment options from elected members from each ward and the cabinet have stated they would be happy to receive suggestions from the public via email.

Council Leader Joe Cullinane said: “It is really important that every community in North Ayrshire shares in the benefits of available investment opportunities and we believe that Dalry and Stevenston are two towns which will benefit greatly from £500,000 of investment from the Town Centre Fund.”

If anyone wishes to share views about how the fund could be used, the cabinet members have asked that you email leader@north-ayrshire.gov.uk.
