YESTERDAY outside court Annalise’s father Gordon Johnstone spoke of his shock that both of the people accused of her murder – including his son – had walked free from court.

Clearly emotional, he said: “There is no justice for my daughter. No justice, at the end of the day.

“I don't know how life is going to carry on. I’m still trying to get my head round it.”

Although he said he was disappointed that no-one had been convicted of killing his daughter he admitted that at the same time he had been expecting the outcome.

He said: “I’m going to go to her grave and explain things to her, see how she is and talk to her.

“She always had a smile on her face. She was always cheery.

“It’s just I miss her. She’ll always be in my heart.

“Every time I hear her name she’s living for me.”

Mr Johnstone, 44, from Fauldhouse, West Lothian, recalled that he and Annalise had parted on an argument after he found out she had come out as gay.

He said: “I don’t have anything against gays, but when your close family comes out and says they’re gay it’s a shock to you. I couldn’t handle it at first but it’s easier now.

“The weirdest thing is we left on an argument and that’s the worst thing.”

He said he remembered holding Annalise in his arms as a newborn baby. “I’m never going to et that back,” he added.

Asked about the not proven verdict, he said: “I know England doesn't have it. I don't know what’s so special about Scotland.

“I wish there was a better result than that for the two of them, not just my son. Insufficient evidence for Newlands was a shock to my system as well. It's bad enough my son going up.”

He added: I don't know if my relationship with him (Jordan) is going to be OK. It’s going to be tarnished. I’d love to have had a word with her.

“I’m not a violent person, but if I can't get answers I’ll be lost.”
