A TEENAGER charged after the death of Saltcoats man Henry Lee will face no further criminal proceedings, the Crown Office have confirmed.

Henry tragically died following an attack in Green Street, Saltcoats back in November of 2017 and a 16-year-old boy was arrested and appeared at court charged with assault to severe injury and danger of life before being released on bail from Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

The teenager was set to appear for trial at a later date but this has not happened and the Crown have now said ‘that there should be no further criminal proceedings taken at this time’.

A spokeswoman from the Crown Office said: “It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review and after full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of this case, the Crown Counsel instructed that there should be no further criminal proceedings taken at this time.

“The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”
