A free summer camp aimed at teaching young people how to ‘code the future’ will take place at the beginning of the school holidays.
The week-long initiative will see youngsters, aged 8-13, take part in a series of activities designed to teach them how to code through the use of a visual language called Scratch.
Scratch is a good way of introducing the concepts of coding using an easy-to-use language where blocks of code are snapped together.
During the week, the young people will also get the opportunity to try out other exciting new technology and gadgets including virtual reality headsets, 3D printing, Raspberry Pis and robotics.
They will also be provided with a free lunch from the council’s catering service.
The summer camp will take place at Elderbank Primary School from Monday July8 until Friday July 12 from 10am-2pm each day.
Spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. The camp is only open to pupils of North Ayrshire schools, aged 8-13. To book a spot, visit: www.tinyurl.com/CodeCamp2019
