THUGS vandalised a community hall in Dalry.

Trustees of Rosearden Hall were disgusted when they arrived at the building on Courthill Street on Sunday, May 19 to find the surrounding perimeter wall damaged and waste strewn around.

Myra Sim, hall treasurer, said: “It’s an old building – it has been there since 1952 – and on Saturday night it was vandalised.

“The coping stones from the top – I don’t know how they managed it – have been pulled off and smashed. They have been broken and vandalised.

“The yard was full of broken glass, which had come from the [nearby] pub obviously. There were tumblers, cigarette ends, you name it. We, the trustees are absolutely disgusted. It’s just so annoying. When it happens in your own town it kind of brings it home. It is total disrespect.

“It’s terrible, absolutely awful. There have been people urinating in the yard. It’s sad because we’re very proud of Rosearden.

“We reported it to the police on Sunday morning.”

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: “Police are investigating the report of a vandalism to a wall which is reported to have taken place between midnight and 5am on Sunday,May 19.

"Officers have conducted local enquiries including the review of nearby CCTV and are appealing for anyone with information regarding the damage to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 and quoting incident 1324 of 19/05/19.
