RESIDENTS are being invited along to view the final plans for exciting proposals for new supported accommodation in Stevenston.

The planned £3.1million development will see the vacant former sheltered housing complex at Caley Court transformed to create 12 one and three two-bedroom homes for residents with additional support needs.

The proposals form part of North Ayrshire Council’s vision to deliver 1,375 new properties by 2024 – one of the most ambitious Council house building programmes in the UK. North Ayrshire Council will host the final plans consultation event at Ardeer Youth and Community Centre, on Thursday, June 13. Local residents can drop-in anytime between 4-6pm to view the plans.

The new homes will meet the Scottish Government’s Greener standard and will incorporate a range of sustainable technologies.

Cabinet Member for Place, Councillor Jim Montgomerie, said: “Our ambitious Council Housing programme has already delivered hundreds of modern, energy-efficient homes across North Ayrshire and we are well on track to build more than 1300 new Council houses by 2024.

“The Caley Court development will be an important one for us and will provide high quality supported accommodation which will meet tenants’ needs.”

The proposed redevelopment of Caley Court will see the former sheltered housing complex completely redeveloped to provide modern, supported accommodation for residents who have additional support needs. The site will contain a staff base which will operate 24 hours per day. Construction work is currently expected to get underway in spring next year. The final plans for the development will be available to view online here from Friday, June 14 until Friday, July 5.
