BETTER off North Ayrshire has helped 2,407 local people to be better off by saving them an incredible total of £1.8million.

The three-year council-led programme was launched in March 2017 to offer financial support to help residents make the most of their money.

North Ayrshire Council was selected as one of five areas in Scotland to receive funding from the National Lottery and the European Social Fund.

The programme is delivered through community organisations and has helped people with reducing and managing debts, budgeting, writing off energy debts through access to energy grants, maximising their income and to start to build up savings.

Councillor Joe Cullinane, Leader of North Ayrshire Council, said:“It’s good to see the difference that this project is making to local people’s household income.”
