This year’s It’s a Knockout in support of Marion’s Still Smiling was as bonkers and as fun as ever.

A total of 13 teams battled it out on the inflatable obstacle course at Ardrossan Accies Rugby Club on Saturday, June 15. The annual event is in memory of Saltcoats mum Marion Callaghan, who lost her battle with cancer in 2014.

Maureen Ritchie Callaghan, from the Marion’s Still Smiling charity, said: “It went amazing, although the weather could have been kinder, but we are in Scotland, so we have to take what we can get.

“Our amazing winners were SW Fitness and Gym with their team Mr Motivator and the Physi Gals, Steven and Stephanie Walker put the team through their paces to win the gold medals.

“Local karate champion Aria Pascual and her army came in second with Aria’s Army and Marion’s Still Smiling is going to present her with a cheque for £500 to help get her to Chile in October for the Under 21 World Championships.

“This was our fifth year holding this event and we’d like to thank David Kane (Korky) and Alison Potts who have captained a team every year.”

The teams which took part were as follows: Three Towns Growers (Captain Jennifer McKenzie), Three Toons Misfits (Captain David Kane), Marion’s Maradonnas (Captain Kirstin Callaghan, Marion’s daughter), Yabba Dabba Doos (Captain Maureen Ritchie Callaghan), Saltkits Sengas (HR Department at Crosshouse Hospital, Captain Alison Potts), Lynn and the Ladettes (oncology nurses from Crosshouse), Doc’s Dream Team, Peaky Blinders (Thales), Scrambled Legs (Security Scotland), Corporate Punishment (mortgage lender), Win Win 8 (CBRE).
