Monkton is now home to a new childcare facility just in time for the school holidays.

Local children will now have access to a Summer Club which will be provided by the new Fly High centre.

Built with an emphasis on outdoor learning, the facility comes with a large garden area which is set to allow curious young minds the chance to investigate and problem solve, come rain or shine.

The new business venture is joint owned by Lauren Blackwood, an early year’s professional with more than 20 years experience and Brenda Pound, a business management professional.

Fly High’s team of experienced staff will include two local apprentices who will provide services from children aged 0-5 years, with the new holiday club based at Monkton Primary School opened for 5-12 years.

Owners were “delighted” to open the doors to the new centre after years of planning.

Brenda said: “Lauren focuses on the overall running of the centre, ensuring all children have the best possible start as they embark on their learning journey. We strive to ensure high quality learning experiences for all work in partnership with parents to make sure each one of our families feel welcome and part of Fly High at all times.”

The grand opening was attended by Councillor Douglas Campbell, Leader of South Ayrshire Council, who officially launched the new centre.

Mr Campbell said: “Fly High Early Learning and Childcare Centre is an excellent example of how South Ayrshire Council’s AMBITION programme can help a local business get off the ground. Starting a new business isn’t always easy and requires a lot of hard work and specialist knowledge. .

“I would like to congratulate Brenda and Lauren and I wish them every success with their new venture.”
