There was lots of fun at Stanley Primary when the school’s winning house team held a rewards day.

Winning house, Arran, scored the most points this year and was rewarded with a day of fun activities. Captained by Freya Garvey with vice-captain Julia Hogarth, Arran beat Ailsa Craig, Bute and Pladda to be the top house of the year.

To celebrate Arran’s win, the pupils enjoyed a whole day of fun activities on Friday, June 14. The kids were treated to a lunch of burger and chips, enjoyed games, arts and crafts, animal interactions, playing on a bouncy castle and more.

Lesley Richardson, teacher at Stanley Primary, told the Herald: “The children are put into these houses when they start, and they stay in them for their whole school life.

“Throughout the year they can get points for their house for things such as standing in line, showing good manners, all sorts of things. The teachers, dinner ladies, management – anyone in the school can award points for good behaviour. They’re all counted up over the year and the team with most points gets a rewards day.

“They had a bouncy castle, a McDonald’s themed lunch – burger and chips – and they were able to bring their ‘wheels’, whether that was bikes, scooters, roller-skates. They also had DVDs, a slime workshop, an animal workshop, cake making – loads of things.”
