CUNNINGHAME Housing Association have helped contribute to a fast-growing gym in the Three Towns.

On June 25, Group Chief Executive Frank Sweeney was invited to come down and see the Inspire, Motivate, Celebrate gym in Saltcoats.

The housing association donated funding of £1,000 from its Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund to help the group obtain some much-needed initial gym equipment.

Mr Sweeney said: “We are delighted to be able to support this local facility for children in the area. To have now 1,280 youngsters using the facility demonstrates how much a community asset it has become early doors. Congratulations to Jim Montgomerie and his team.”

Jim Montgomerie said: “A big thank you to CHA for their kind donation of £1,000.

“This goes right into the heart of The IMC Project in supplying our youngsters with the much needed equipment.

“It’s not just about setting up a boxing club. It’s about creating an environment where young people feel safe and can aspire to be what they want to be. We are daily tackling crime, gangs, keeping youngsters off the Streets.

“Mental health issues such as drug addiction, depression, anger management and alcohol abuse to name a few all through exercise and positive thinking.

“The numbers we are getting through the doors are crazy.

“The difference in the youngsters in six weeks is truly amazing.

“It shows how much of a need we have for this in our community.”
