A WELL known face at James McFarlane said cheerio for the last time as he retired after 20 years at the school.
Paul McIvor has been working in varying roles at the Ardrossan school for two decades.
He started as principal teacher then depute head teacher.
On three occasions he has made the step up to become acting head teacher, most recently in the last year.
Last week, the school celebrated by inviting friends and family along for an afternoon of presentations and to play crazy golf in a course which was constructed by staff and pupils.
Acting Depute Head Teacher Lesley Ward said: “We managed to keep the afternoon a secret from Paul and he was very surprised when his two grandsons appeared in his office to escort him to the hall!
“Paul will be hugely missed by pupils and staff alike and we all wish him a long and happy retirement with his wife Sandra.”
