A BURST water main in Kilbirnie won't be repaired until tonight - to keep distrubtion to locals to a minimum.

The massive fountain of water has been spraying in a field in the town since yesterday and Scottish Water have tweeted to say they are on the scene but plan to carry out repairs tonight (Monday) to minimise impact on residents nearby.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Scottish Water was alerted yesterday to a burst water main off the B780 between Dalry & Kilbirnie. Preparatory work has been carried out today ahead of the planned backfeed and repair which will take place overnight. The repair is complex in nature, however, we are doing all we can to maintain supplies to customers in the area.”
