CAPTAIN marvel Tom Fleet led by example as Prestwick kept up their challenge at the top of the Western Premier Division.

He scored an excellent 55 in a total of 319-5 as they edged out Poloc to stay just over two per cent behind leaders Uddingston.

The Aussie said: “We’ve had an onus of the top four and five to do well but it’s good to see we can do well as a team.

“Fraser Macdonald bowled well and Tom Lord I felt was the pick of the bowlers for us..

“In the next few weeks we can hopefully just keep playing as we have been.

“We will take it a game at a time but are hoping to make a challenge. We have only lost the one game so far.”

Prestwick on Saturday head to East Kilbride on Premier Division business.

Then on Sunday, bragging rightS are at stake when the two teams meet in the annual challenge match at New Cambusdoon.

The game gets underway at noon and organises are hoping for a good turnout in what is always a keenly-contested match.

Fleet said: “Both clubS are looking forward to it and hopefully it will be a great game of cricket.”
