A spectacular collection of classic commercials will take to the roads of Ayrshire this weekend.

The annual Ayrshire Commercial Vehicle Club’s Vintage Vehicle Road Run kicks off at Ayr’s Low Green on Saturday, July 13 from 9am-11am with a static display of around 150 historic machines.

The cavalcade from yesteryear then heads along the esplanade into Wellington Square and towards Doonfoot before joining the A77 and A78. It’s a journey which then follows the Three Towns bypass and travels through Seamill, West Kilbride, Largs, Kilbirnie, Beith, Lugton, Stewarton and Springside. There’s then a pit stop for lunch at Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park – providing the public with another static display opportunity from 1-3pm – before engines fire back into life and follow the A77 to Portpatrick.

On Sunday, the vehicles follow a route through Dumfries and Galloway to the Lockerbie Truck Stop before journeying back to Ayrshire.

This year’s entry list is the event’s largest yet and includes everything from small vans and Land Rovers to preserved buses, coaches, artic lorries, fire engines and much more. It’s a unique opportunity to see commercial vehicles which have each played a role in shaping the world we live in today on the move as well as on display.

Approximate timings for the road run on the Saturday Ayrshire leg are as follows: Sandyford Toll 11:15am, Seamill 11:45am, Kilbirnie 12:15pm, Beith 12:30pm and Stewarton 1pm. However, vehicles could take up to 30 minutes to pass through any point.
