A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a Girvan woman who has been missing since 2017.

Patricia Henry vanished from her home on Monday, November 13 2017 and her family reported her missing in March 2018.

The 46-year-old, who was known as Patti, had relocated from Paisley to Girvan a month before she vanished.

Police carried out extensive inquiries in both Renfrewshire and Ayrshire but no trace of the mum has been found.

Detectives revealed that a 69-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder following a recent re-appealed for information earlier this month, where police said they thought she may have "come to harm".

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 69-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 46-year-old Patricia Henry, who was last seen at her home address in Girvan in November 2017.
