A young man who was reported missing on Arran was found after spending almost two days on the mountains.

Miroslav Novak from Dundee was found by Arran Mountain Rescue Team on Friday, July 26, after he was reported missing to police. He was believed to have travelled by train to the Arran ferry on Wednesday, July 24 and was thought to be missing in the Arran hills.

A spokesperson from Arran Mountain Rescue said the team were tasked early on Friday morning (July 26) to help in the search for Miroslav. After a few hours searching, the 23-year-old was located on the A’Chir ridge. He was taken to hospital, but no details have been released on his condition.

The spokesperson added: “After gathering information and getting an idea of his intended route, team members split into groups to start searching for him in different locations.

“Rescue helicopter 199 was tasked to assist along with Police MRT.

“A wallet was found belonging to the missing person by a member of the public on the bypass path on A’Chir ridge and handed in promptly which helped to confirm that the missing person had been/was still on the hill somewhere.

“After a few hours, Rescue 199 spotted someone to the north side of the A’Chir ridge.

“Thankfully the casualty was still alive after falling and being out in the mountains for almost 48hours.

“The helicopter paramedic along with seven MR team members made their way to the person to provide help and treated and packaged the casualty for uplift to hospital for further treatment.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and thanks very much to everyone for their assistance.”
