Residents, members of the Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston Legion branch and visitors from Legion Scotland Magazine gathered in Saltcoats to remember VJ Day.
A small service was carried out by local minister, Don Currie. Members laid a cross, before a two-minute silence.
Branch publicity officer, Suzanne Fernando, MBE BCAh said: “Sadly where WWII is concerned, as the years go by we will very soon have no veterans left who fought in these conflicts so ensuring we do as much as possible to remember them and pass onto generations to come is one of our main priorities.”
Branch president, Paul Coffey, added: “I’d like to thank everyone who attended and the ladies from Legion Scotland for coming along to our service and joining us in the Melbourne cafe afterwards for a well deserved cuppa.”
