The town of Sanquhar was a haven of activity last week with the annual Riding of the Marches.
Following a week of activities and celebrations, the Riding of the Marches concluded with the traditional gala event on Saturday, August 17.
Entertainments on the day kicked off at 6am with members of the public invited to follow the Burgh Piper. The morning also saw Cameron Sanderson sworn in as the new Cornet. He then led the ‘ride to the marches’, the age-old tradition around the boundaries of the town.
This year’s parade was as colourful as ever with spectacular floats, bands and more. Following the procession to the Burgh, Paige Bryce was crowned Sanquhar Queen by Mrs Joan McGoldrick.
Revellers enjoyed the rest of the day with fun entertainments at Sanquhar Primary School field.
