Doors Open Days celebrate Scotland’s heritage and environment by offering free access to over a thousand venues throughout September every year.
Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society is taking part by welcoming visitors to the Castle and the nearby church on Saturday 7 and Sunday, September 8, from 12-4pm.
There will be guided tours explaining when they were built, the meeting of the Privy Council in 1546, Wallace’s Larder, legends, the discovery of the Ardrossan Sarcophagus in 1911 and recent archaeological digs.
Last month, the Castle Heritage Society welcomed visitors from the United States seeking information on the Montgomery family who once lived in the Castle. During the visit, some Canadians joined the group.
We look forward to meeting more people interested in our local treasures and the work of Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society on Doors Open Days.
