Police are hunting an attacker who left a man with facial injuries during a horrifying day time attack.

The 30-year-old victim was left bleeding and hurt in the street after the attack in Princes Place on Monday afternoon.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or who came to the man's aid to come forward.

A spokesman for Police Spokesman said: "Police Scotland is appealing for information after a 30-year-old man was assaulted in Ardrossan.

"The incident happened on Princes Place in the town and was reported around 1.50pm on Monday, September 16.

"The man was taken to hospital to receive treatment to non-life threatening facial injuries."

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Thomson added: "Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may have information or who may have come to man's aid at the time to come forward.
