A HEARTBROKEN mum has told of her grief after her teenage son died suddenly – just two days after his best pal died of a suspected drugs overdose.

Louise Rae, of Broomlands, was comforting her pal Carol O’Riley over the death of her son Connor Luke, 17, last week, when two days later her own son Aidan, also 17, passed away.

Aidan Rae was found dead in his girlfriend’s home in Clark Crescent, Stevenston on Thursday, September 12.

Connor died at a house in Partick, Glasgow on the morning of Tuesday, September 10 after apparently taking drugs.

Louise, 36, told the Times: “It’s unbelievable. Carol and Connor live along the road from us. I couldn’t believe it when I heard he had died. I was comforting her over his death and then two days later it happened to me. It’s just so tragic. We are in constant contact now just trying to help each other through this. I have no idea how I am going to go on without him.”

Louise, says she is still waiting for answers on how former Greenwood Academy pupil Aidan died.

She said: “We don’t know for sure. We are waiting for police to come back to us. We just want answers. It’s so hard to wrap our heads around it. My gut feeling is that someone has given him something to take, but we just don’t know for sure.”

Louise is now struggling to come to terms with the loss of her “bright and happy” son and says his siblings, Kieran, 19, Robert, 17, Sophie, nine, six-year-old Jay and step brother Allan, 23, are devastated by his death.

She said: “They will be lost without him. Jay has no understanding at all of what’s happened and Kieran is really struggling to accept it. It is just so hard. He was just a baby and now he’s gone.

“It’s so tragic and such a waste. That’s both he and Connor gone. Two young boys with their lives in front of them. It’s so, so hard.

“Aidan was the type of kid who walked into a room and lit up everyone’s lives who were in it. He was happy and bright and cheeky. He was a great boy, always had a smile on his face. “

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Enquiries are continuing into the death of a 17-year-old male youth in Clark Crescent, Stevenston on Thursday, September 12.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Tributes poured in for Connor Luke following his death last week. His heartbroken mum Carol posted a tribute on her Facebook page, saying: “I became your mum at 18, then a knew what love was.

“A was so proud of that day u were my boy am going to miss u so much. Can’t believe your gone my hearts broken a love u more than life itself sleep tight my boy”.

Connor’s friends held a balloon launch on Friday – hours after he was laid to rest.
